Luke Cage: Hernan Alvarez Sunglasses
In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Shades (Hernan Alvarez) was a member of the Rivals gang and a criminal and featured heavily in the Luke Cage Netflix Series (2016). He served time in Seagate Penitentiary where he worked for Albert Rackham and arranged illegal fights. Upon release, Diamondback recruited him to monitor Cottonmouth’s criminal activities in Harlem, putting him in opposition with Luke Cage. With Diamondback’s arrival to kill Cage, Shades stayed loyal, but eventually questioned Diamondback’s actions, causing him to become a target. To save himself, Shades aligned with Mariah Dillard and betrayed Diamondback.
The character Shades has a distinctive style, and as his name suggests, is always seen wearing a pair of shades. Portrayed by Theo Rossi in the 2016 TV series Luke Cage. The glasses worn by Rossi are seen to be a pair of Ran Ban Wayfarer Classics. Ran-Bans are the most popular eyewear brand in the world, owned by Luxottica, with their Wayfarer style being one of the most popular types of sunglasses styles in the world. It was first designed by Bausch & Lomb (who used to own Ray-Bans) in 1952 but rose to fame in the 80s thanks to fantastic product placements and the famed frames being featured in a variety of film and TV (most famously worn by Tom Cruise in Risky Business).
